As a teenage immigrant from Germany along with her brother and single mom Renate experienced the challenges of learning a new language and integrating into a different culture first-hand. What brought them here was the prospect of rights and freedoms being respected and the possibility of a bright future. Renate’s humble beginnings fueled her ambition to earn a B.Sc. from UBC, and to pursue a variety of business ventures. Her career experiences include running a Canadian multi-million dollar manufacturing plant, producing a Canadian Academy-Award-nominated feature length documentary, leading marketing and sales efforts of an internationally-acclaimed consulting firm and advising a variety of start-ups.
Renate considers her greatest achievement raising her four happy, healthy and productive adult children. Her passions include spending quality family time, freedom activism, world traveling, hiking, cooking, and playing her flute.
As a child I was very lucky to emigrate to Canada from Germany. Canada is great because of the people and the laws which protect our Rights, Liberties and Freedoms.
Over the past 18 months those freedoms and liberties have been obliterated.
For those reasons and many more I can no longer sit on the sidelines.
